Bible Reading : Job22:22-30.
Yesterday, I examined the various meanings of a decree. Today I examine the features of a decree.i) A decree is a written document that is specific and clear about the subject matter. In Luke2:1-3, we have account of a decree issued by Caezer Augustus. The decree was specific and mandatory. It was a census for the purpose of taxing the population. The local citizens had to return to their place of origin or birth so that taxes could be levied and number of citizens could be rightly ascertained, ii) It is a law and had to be carried out according to the king's wishes and failure to obey the decree is punishable, iii) To us Christians, a decree is a tool which causes the truth of heavenly realm to be manifest into the natural so that they become our daily reality. For example, we decree healing when their is sickness. We decree peace when there is tumoil and we decree provision and abundance when there is lack, iv) Decree can be made to invoke disaster upon a people or a nation for their disobedience. An example of this is found in Jeremiah11:17 where God pronounced evil against the house of Israel for their disobedience and idol worship. This is an example of a righteous decree, v) A decree can be an unrighteous decree. An example of this is contained in Isaiah 10:1-2----" Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed; To turn aside the needy from judgement, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless". I decree that any unrighteous decree by any authority or persons in position of power against the plan of God for your life, destiny, career, academic or your family be destroyed in Jesus Name. Good Day.
