1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
The simplicity in the Scriptures is often clouded by the traditions of men. The words are clear and written for those who have eyes to see.
For there is one God,
God is one and there is only one true God. "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord"
and one mediator between God and men,
There is one God, but many men. God himself cannot be the mediator since He is one and a mediator cannot be a mediator of himself. (Galatians 3:20 Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.) A mediator is one who stands between two opposing sides and so logically and Biblically, God cannot stand as a mediator between himself and others.
the man Christ Jesus
Jesus is the man chosen by God to be our mediator. God has given him all power and authority in heaven and earth and he alone reconciles us to God.
These simple facts are often overlooked for the sake of tradition. Take a step back and see the truth as it is written. We must know God to love God. Jesus came not to make himself God but to glorify God and bring us back to Him. Jesus is the perfect man sent by God to be our Savior.
