Growing up, I was born to a wonderful family that every blessed day I am super proud of having this amazing parents and siblings suming up as my families. Growing up, I was really innocent about the demands of life but I always watch how my parents struggle financially.
My dad is a retired teacher while my mom was left to carry all the weight of the house financially with so much load on her. She is a civil servant and most times I always pity her seeing that there is a whole lot of work and load upon her. We are four in the family, three guys and one female which happens to be me and also happens to be the last born. Things were pretty quite hard in the family financially growing up that on two occasions, I was forced to change secondary school twice.
Attending a private school all through from Jss1 - Jss1, I was forced to change the school to a public one that their school fees was cheaper due to the fact that my mom was not able to handle the expenses any longer.
My elder brother which was the first born got admission to the university at one point and was about to forfeit the admission due to financial needs and eventually by the grace of God was able to get to the university.
Things was pretty hard in the family. I remember when I was around the age of 15-16, I was thinking of just renouncing Christ and just accept that God does not exist. A lot of questions were running through my mind then which Includes
"God, why is everything hard in our family?"
"Lord we keep praying for financial provision but things are not changing, what is wrong?"
Things was really hard then but well one way or the other I continue in Faith during that period. That should be around JSS 2.
Entering the university and due to the wonderful friends I have on campus, I was helped to be close to God. I remember my first roommate in the university in 100 level who is always there to help me to be more closer to God than before. One of them was Kenny.
Kenny will always tell me
"Precious, you really need to be close to God "
At first I didn't want to take the words seriously because at that point, I was already close to giving up on God. Looking at how I have so much faith in God to settle our financial needs in the family but even till now things have not yet been settled, I was already giving up on God answering prayers.
Well then I can remember that I was actually close to God but I will say I was actually practicing religions then and not intimately close to God.
Kenny actually labour on me and I was actually close to God. I forgot to tell you about my other brothers
My first born graduated from the university of Anyigba but over 10 years, he was unable to find any job. Our second born also graduated from the Federal university of Minna studying cyber security but also over 8 years, there was no job for him. The third born currently studying nursing also graduated and for the past two years, there is also no job.
Now currently in 500 level, things are also hard from my side financially. Knowing fully well that if I am not careful, the same pattern will continue same way and the finances struggle will continue.
In a bid to break the deadlock and set the family free, first semester in my 500 level, I set apart some time for a personal retreat with God seeking the face of God on that issue. I was joined in prayer by my fellowship members in it.
Knowing fully well that things cannot continue this same way, went in anger to get things solved in the place of prayer, I can still remember it was this year. Engaging in serious prayers in prayer, I was made to understand by one of my friend Divine who also was sensitive that I have been push into the mud of shame.
Divine was a seer who sees things. I was made to understand by him that the spirit in the family was following me and hovering around me affecting my life. The spirit of lack and poverty which is affecting my others brother and which affected my parent. The spirit of Poverty as it was called.
I knew if I didn't break free from this spirit of poverty, I might end up suffering financially. Knowing this, it gives me that strong picture and I contend with it. On the third day in serious prayer, I was finally free from that spirit of Poverty through a confirmation.
Since that time upto this particular moment I am writing this to you, things are already getting better for me and even for the better financially and this I am so sure that finally, our family is set free from that spirit of Poverty. We are free from lack and wants.
