I will talk about my favourite pastime here, the Minetest game from Neoxian city. In my previous post, I told you about my nether journey. I will continue from there.
I was a few nether ingots short for my full nether armour set. So, I went mining for more netherrack which eventually makes the nether ingot. But this involves a few steps and each step reduces the output drastically. In short one stack of netherrack only give 1 nether ingot.
But I managed to mine the required blocks and turned them into a complete set of nether armour. Now I have all the available armour sets in my house.
We also had a big Quality-of-Life mod update, the enchantment table. Now we have enchantments in the game which should help immensely in improving the gameplay and mining of resources much easier.
I had all the resources to make an enchantment table. I shifted my bed and made an enchanting setup at that place. My Minecraft knowledge helped me set up the bookshelf around the enchantment table for maximum enchantment levels.
I found out that 15 bookshelves were enough for getting the maximum level of enchantments. You need 3 mese ores as a fee for enchanting. I enchanted my tools with powerful enchants, I got multiple enchants on my shovels and axes but only 1 enchantment on pickaxes. I tried on 4 different pickaxes but I got 1 each time. I should try enchanting books (this just came to my mind now...lol)
I was excited to mine diamonds, mese and other valuable ores with my fortune III pickaxe but it was not working. It was disappointing, maybe the mod doesn't allow it? or there is something else that needs to be done for this?
A Long Journey
I thought the fortune enchantment will work on blocks that were not loaded before the update, So... I decided to go far from this place and find new areas and maybe the fortune will work on those blocks.
I had to prepare for this long journey. I grabbed a few extra blocks, took my enchanted tools and packed some extra bread. Also, I made enough travel boxes to fast travel in case something goes wrong so I found any interesting place.
I picked a direction (south) and started walking in that direction for hours. I crossed snowy mountains, scorching deserts, vast oceans, dense forests and high cliffs. It was a long long journey. I placed a few travel boxes along the way for every 2500 blocks I walked.
I also chose a time of day when no one was online so, I can skip the nights by sleeping on a bed.
At each stops, I mined a few coal blocks to see if my fortunate III pickaxe will work there but it didn't and I slowly lost all hope but still kept on walking in the south direction.
One of the most interesting biomes I found was, the permafrost area. I found two unique blocks here: "permafrost" and "permafrost with moss"(green). I didn't find any use for them other than as building blocks. Maybe they will be useful in some future mod.
Another interesting thing that happened over the -18000 mark was, I found a huge open ocean and it went for a few hundred blocks like that... I thought I reached the end of the map and there are no more blocks generated above the ocean level.
But I was wrong. I saw land after a long time. I set up my travel box at around -20,000 in Z (south) direction. I started digging down to find some ores. I was surprised to see that sand goes up to 200 blocks on this beach. I found some ores and...
And it didn't work, my fortune III pickaxe was still giving only 1 ore per block. That was disappointing, even after travelling for almost 2 hours, It didn't work. In hindsight, it was a bad idea... I don't think, the minetest world is also procedurally generated like Minecraft. Whether it does, the fortune enchantment is broken for sure.
