Hello and welcome to my blog!

Splinterlands has completed 6 years on the blockchain and has provided some great entertainment and fun over those six years. I have not been around for most of those years but my journey on this blockchain can never be described without mentioning this game.

This week we were asked to share the joy and write about the sixth anniversary of Splinterlands. Here is the post's link if you want to read about this challenge!

You can see this is my third year of playing this game and I didn't know anything about the blockchain or web3 when I joined this game. How did I find it? I would like to tell you from the start.

My Splinterlands Story

I would say it was just a coincidence that I found Splinterlands. In November of 2021, there was a huge uproar of web3 and web3 games and I didn't know anything about them. All I saw were some decentralised tokens booming up on the crypto scene. This led me to research more and around those days when I was getting bored and decided to search for a web3 game. I searched on the internet for the best web3 games and Splinterlands came out as one of the top search results.

It sparked my interest and then I watched a few YouTube videos of the game and it looked nice! I made this account knowing nothing about the underlying blockchain and that's how my accidental journey began here. Around that time, the talks were all about the upcoming Chaos Legion sale.

I played a lot of games in my early stage where I was still learning the ins and outs of the game. All the cards have different abilities. Once the Chaos Legion edition dropped many new cards came with their unique abilities and new rulesets which made it even more interesting.

A few nice souls on the blockchain have helped me immensely by both exposing me to the beautiful blockchain and answering all my burning questions that I had at that time.

Advice for Beginners

My advice for beginners would be to go slow and read about all the FAQs and learn abilities. One of the most underrated aspects of the game is the 'challenge' feature. If you have a friend who plays the game just utilize this challenge feature and play a lot of games and try to see what works and what doesn't. It can sometimes be discouraging to lose in ranked matches, especially when you are starting. So, practice as much as you can. Battle a lot and see what works, and what doesn't work. Slowly in time, you will start noticing patterns and strategies which work well for you. There will be cards which work well with specific types of compositions, some work well with specific rulesets, some with high or low mana etc. These things will come to you naturally when you battle more and notice and learn from all the mistakes and even winnings.

Watching some YouTube tutorials helps a lot, I watched a few of them and that's how I learned some of the basics. Try to build a deck over time with cards that you are most comfortable with.

It would be a lie to say that I have achieved all that I thought of achieving in the game, I played in mostly silver and sometimes gold leagues but it gets competitive in the bigger leagues and the rewards are great. My focus right now is to help my Guild get stronger so I tend to take my brawls very seriously, even though I mostly suck at the game...lol

My Goals and Accomplishments

I have participated in only a few tournaments till now and I want to change it. So my goal is to get better and confident and participate in more events and tournaments organised by the community. I have been shying away from them for so long. Also, I have an SPS goal of 25000 staked SPS goal which might take some time.

I have been holding onto some Chaos Legion packs too, and will rip them open after the Rebellion Packs along with some of those!

I started making those splinterlands posts and taking part in contests after a month or two of playing it. I took part in the weekly art contest and enjoyed my days there until I got too busy and the quality of the artwork was not great either. There were so many people making better art than me and slowly I moved away from that type of content. However, it helped me to learn a new digital artwork contest and I bought a pad for drawing too. That was one of the first things I bought from the Hive I got from participating in those contests.

Who would have guessed that entering into a world of blockchain gaming would make me work on my art skills? lol

This has been some journey and I look forward to the coming days! Thanks to all the people who helped me in this journey, they are too many to be named here.

As Splinterlands approached 6 years on the blockchain I wish I had been there from the start and had not missed the best days of the game but still, there are some opportunities and this upcoming bull cycle might be the boon that all of the community is hoping for. What do you think when is the next bull cycle coming to cryptocurrency and altcoin and will the decentralized tokens see a huge spike again? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
