One of the first couple of things that bothered me after joining Steem were:
Those who didn't understand the power behind voting for others and making their ship rise. It seemed especially selfish to me how many either self voted A LOT, or cashed out as quick as they were getting paid. So many missed that all ships will rise together, and even if not for that which is powerful, the ability to reward others you appreciate while never touching your own stake (which grows all on its own to account for vest inflation).
The lack of apps being built to take advantage of the first thing I mentioned. I kept asking myself why apps weren't building structures to take advantage of the speed/low cost nature of Steem. Facebook has proven that people will pay real money for fake in game tokens for specials. Games that in no way are as sophisticated as say World of Warcraft. I know Splinterlands has dived into this field, but seems there is so much money on the table for those who understand development/coding. I hope we see more talented folks building apps that not only benefit the chain, but make them filthy rich, Imagine all those coders for the games of Facebook, how little they probably got paid compared to the volume of money rolling in for the owners of those games and Facebook as the money facilitator.
I also think people need to shed the idea that Steemit enforced, that they had some kind of final say over developments and coding. Those days are behind us, and will be curious to see how many of the whales will run with this now that Steemit is no longer an impediment.
