Happy Monday, happy new year 🎉 and a very warm welcome to my world 😊. We are onto a new week and hopefully you are having a great day and year this far. Mine has been ok and as the day draws to a close, am raring to go with some of the day's trending news and my stepping activities. Thank you for stopping by yet again and let's take it away💨.
So I had two major walks, starting off early with fast paced morning session. I brisk walked around the neighbourhood. At least today the sun was out on a beautiful Monday morning with an amazing fresh breeze🍃. Then I was back indoors for the usual household chores. later in the afternoon, I stopped by the shopping center then was back home for some cooking followed by the usual nap. In between I did check out some trending news and watched some you tube. Finally I finished off the day with the slow paced evening walk in the cool evening breeze.
So what's been trending. Locally, the usual political shenanigans kept going 😹. Otherwise a quiet day.
Globally, Gaza still trending as the ground fighting between Israeli forces and Hamas fighters kept going. Airstrikes too kept going, 67 Palestinians killed in 24 hours bringing the civilian death toll to over 24,000🙀.
Also trending, Hamas released a video that purportedly shows the dead bodies of two Israeli captives🙀. The same video shows another captive saying the two were killed by Israeli airstrikes 😿. Let's see how Israel responds to it.
Trending in Israel, one elderly woman was killed and 18 injured in car ramming and stabbing attack north of Tel Aviv🙀. Two Palestinians were arrested following the incident.
North Korean foreign minister was meeting with Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov. North Korea have been supplying Russia with weaponry in that war with Ukraine.
Across the pond in the US, the bitter cold weather in Iowa did not stop hundreds of people from coming out to see former president Trump😹. He is the favorite of the republican candidates.
Finally, volcanic activity in south west Iceland appears to have ceased a day after evacuations in the town of Grindavik. Some houses caught fire but luckily no one was injured. Whether or not people will be allowed back home is still pending.
