Happy Thursday 🎉 and a very warm welcome to my world 😊. It's been another superb and active day, the last day of August. As bedtime beckons, am raring to go with my stepping activities and also share some of the trending stories I came across. Please keep reading 👓 and let's get things going 💨
So today I had a nice morning session with a couple rounds of brisk walking 👣 around the neighborhood 🌲.It was cloudy but that fresh morning breeze🍃made it quite enjoyable. Then I was back indoors for a little bit of resting before embarking on the usual house chores. In between I did keep updated on the trending news and also entertained myself with some good music. Later in the afternoon, I was out to the city centre for a couple of errands . Then I got back home and went into my usual refreshing nap💤. A little later in the early evening, I was up cooking and preparing for the slow paced sunset walk. Next, let's quickly look at what has been trending in the world.
Locally, the usual political shenanigans😹 kept going, otherwise a quiet day.
On the continent, Niger trending as military rulers ordered the expulsion of the French ambassador🙀. The french president, Macron had asked the ambassador to stay as he insisted military rulers had no authority to issue such an order. So what's it gonna be😹.
Close by Gabon coup leaders have said the entire Gabon should be grateful for the coup and outster of president Ali Bongo. Meanwhile the AU has suspended Gabon's membership🙀.
South Africa trending as a massive 🔥 fire at an abandoned building killed at least 74 people🙀. My sincere condolences to the bereaved families😭.
Let's go across the pond in the US where proud boy's leader Joe Biggs was sentenced to 17 years in prison for his role in the Capitol riots in 2021🙀. Elsewhere Trump pleaded not guilty in Georgia election case.
Panama trending as the government launched a new campaign to stem the flow of migrants through the Darien gap. Panama reports that nearly 250,000 people crossed the dangerous gap between Jan and July. All hoping for a better life in the US🙀.
Let's finish up in Mexico, where the country is headed for it's first female president. This as the Mexican opposition coalition picked senator Galvez as it's candidate for the presidency. She will most likely go head to head with former mexico city mayor Claudia Sheinbaun in 2024. We wait to see how that goes😹.
