Happy Thursday 🎉 and a very warm welcome to my report 😊. Another wonderful day is fading away and I am back to fill you in on my stepping activities.Thank you for being here yet again 👏 and let's jump in 💨.
So I kicked off the day with some brisk walking 👣 and jogging around the neighbourhood 🌲. A cloudy day but with some beautiful morning breeze 🍃. I had a rather short session then I was back indoors for some resting, a little bit of daily chores and catching up with the news. The next chance of walking came in the afternoon out to the shopping centre for some food. As always I squeezed in the afternoon nap and woke up some time early evening. After some news and you tube, it was time for the slow paced sunset walk. I had a nice walk then was back indoors still watching news, reading a few stuff before bedtime. So now let's quickly take a look at a summary of what was trending.
Locally, the usual political shenanigans kept going😹. On the continent, Al Jazeera have exposed some of southern Africa's largest gold smuggling operations in Zimbabwe 🙀. A senior diplomat caught red handed laundering money using gold😡.
Let's go to Europe, where the UK and Swiss Central Banks have raised interest rates to help curb inflation. In the UK interests raised by quarter percentage to reach 4.25% , while in Switzerland raised to key rate of 1.5%. I am sure this is not the last we hear of the banking crisis😹.
Nearby, France trending as protesters angry with the new pension reforms clashed with police 😡 with teargas fired. In Paris, piles of rubbish in the streets keep growing as workers are on strike🙀.
Speaking of protests, down in Israel protesters were out against proposed judicial reforms. However pm Benjamin Netanyahu is sticking to his guns, saying the reforms have to go through. Parliament has passed a bill which protects the PM from removal by the supreme court 😹.
Close by in Lebanon, the IMF has warned the Lebanese economy is at a very dangerous moment 🙀. A$3 billion IMF loan agreed in 2022 is not yet delivered and reforms stalled as conditions have not been met.
Across the pond in the US, TikTok CEO faced off with US legislators in a hearing. The company has been accused of sharing user information with the Chinese government 😹. He vehemently denied any sort of spying or messing with users info in any way.
