Happy Thursday 🎉 and a very warm welcome to my world 😊.As always I am so grateful for this day. It's been wonderful stepping it out 💯, now that it's almost bedtime 💤 let's quickly take a look at how my day has been and also share some of the trending stories. As always thank you for reading and let's take it away 💨.
So I started the day with a little bit of brisk walking around the neighbourhood, today was a little warmer than yesterday which motivated me to keep going. Then I was back indoors for some resting and some of the little household chores here and there. Later in the afternoon I had to get some groceries from the mall. Then back home I squeezed in the usual nap before the evening set in. Next came the slow paced evening walking session enjoying the cool breeze🍃.Throughout the day I have been following up on the trending news, and that's next.
Locally, a rather quiet day except for the usual political shenanigans 😹.
More political shenanigans in south Africa, there were scuffles in parliament as opposition parties tried to stop president Cyril Ramaphosa from giving his state of the nation address 😹. They want him to resign. Finally the president gave his speech, he declared state of disaster in the country over the worsening power crisis🙀. The electricity cutoffs has many people complaining.
Globally, all eyes still on the Turkey Syria earthquake. That death toll now over 20k😭. In Turkey 17,134 and Syria 3,317. Over 6 thousand buildings have collapsed 🙀. Hope slowly fading away for the people still under the rubble.
Today I was so happy seeing a 2 year old boy pulled out alive🎊 after so many hours trapped in the rubble in Syria.
Still in Europe, after stopping by in Paris. President Zelensky and counterpart Macron, flew to Brussels. Zelensky given a standing ovation in the EU parliament. He later addressed them thanking them for their support and pushing for more weapons💯. Assuring them that Ukraine can't wait to join the EU 😹.
Across the pond in the US, the state department has said that the Chinese balloon had tools to collect communication/intelligence signals🙀. The balloon was part of of a large fleet flown by the Chinese military over 40 countries and 5 continents😹.
Finally, down in Chile, wild fires have left thousands homeless with deaths reported too😭. President Boric has declared curfews in 3 regions. It turns out people are deliberately starting fires so as to loot and cause chaos. Let's hope it rains soon.
