Hello everyone 👋,
Happy Caturday 🐈 and a very warm welcome from Bob and yours truly😹. It's Bob's day to claw 🐾 into the blockchain and also we are close to the end of January. Hopefully you are doing well with your new year's resolutions😹. Anyway, it's been a great day and as it fades away, I am raring to go with my stepping activities and also share some of the trending stories that made headlines. Thank you for reading and let's take it away 💨.
So as usual, I kicked off early with a few rounds of brisk walking 👣 and jogging around the neighborhood 🌲. It was a beautiful sunny 🌞 morning and I enjoyed the fresh morning breeze.
Then I was back indoors for a bit of resting before embarking on the little house chores around the house. Up and down and in between I kept watching the news for trending stories. Then later in the afternoon a quick stop at the shopping centre for groceries. Next, I was back indoors sleeping for the usual refreshing afternoon nap💤. The evening came in quite swiftly, I was up, cooking and watching a bit of you tube and some soccer matches.
The sunset walk came as it was almost getting dark, as always slow paced enjoying the cool evening/night breeze. I finally made it back home safe and sound calling it a day.
So that was my day but lets finish with some of the trending stories.
Locally, a rather quiet day except for the usual political shenanigans 😹.
Globally, Israel trending as the violence escalated🙀. Today two Israeli settlers were injured in a shoot out carried out by a 13 year old Palestinian boy. This after a Palestinian gun man yesterday shot and killed 7 Israelis near a synagogue. Israeli citizens with gun licences have been urged to carry their guns for protection. Meanwhile in Nablus some Israeli settlers protested and burned Palestinian cars🙀. It's a mess.
Still in Israel, protests against the far right govt went on in Tel Aviv. There are plans to carry out judicial system reforms which would weaken the supreme court 🙀.
Let's go to Ukraine, where deaths were reported in Donetsk, after Russian missiles hit an apartment block 😭. Meanwhile, Ukrainian troops are locked in a fierce battle with Russian fighters for control of the town of Vuhledar southwest of Donetsk.
Still in Europe, former NATO general has won the presidential election 🎊🎉. This after a second round. Then Italy's Eni has signed an $8 bn gas deal with Libya amid energy crunch.
Across the pond in the US, widespread protests reported after authorities released police video in the death of Tyre Nichols. It's police brutality at another levels, he was beaten to a pulp, pepper sprayed several times 🙀. He later died in hospital three days after that beating. My sincere condolences to his family 😭.
Finally in crazy weather, a state of emergency has been declared in Auckland new Zealand after heavy rains and widespread flooding 🙀. People had to be evaluated from some areas after a summer's worth of rain fell in one day😡. The clean up process is ongoing.
