Hello everyone 👋,
Happy Monday 🎉 and a very warm welcome to my world 😊. It's another 24 hours to be grateful for, the holiday season is here, a new week and I have had a great day. It's now that time to slow down and fill you in on how my day has been including some of the trending stories that caught my eye. As always thank you for reading and let's take it away💨.
So I had two major walks, starting off early with fast paced morning session. I brisk walked around the neighbourhood. At least today the sun was out on a beautiful Monday morning with an amazing fresh breeze🍃. Then I was back indoors for the usual household chores. later in the afternoon, I stopped by the shopping center then was back home for some cooking followed by the usual nap. In between I did check out some trending news and watched some you tube. I am definitely missing the world cup that concluded yesterday😭. Finally I finished off the day with the slow paced evening walk in the cool evening breeze.
So what's been trending. Locally, the usual political shenanigans kept going 😹. Down in South Africa, ANC party re-elected Cyril Ramaphosa as party president. Earlier they had prevented his impeachment😹.
Globally, EU energy ministers meeting in Brussels agreed on gas price cap at 180 euros per mega watt hour. This after months of talks and will come into effect in February 👋.
Elsewhere in the UK, a London court ruled that plans to send asylum seekers to Rwanda as legal 🙀. That means anyone entering illegally will be sent to Rwanda. Meanwhile the government of Netherlands has apologized for their 250 years involvement in slave trade😡. Dutch merchants trafficked over 600k Africans and Asians during that period. Payment of reparations has been ruled out😹. I don't think any amount of money can undo the kind of injustice and suffering that occured back then.
Across the pond in the US, the house panel investigating the violent Jan 6, 2021 attack on the US Capitol urged the Justice Department to seek criminal charges against former president Trump🙀. This for his extensive efforts to over turn Biden's win, that day over two thousand rioters did the most after Trump encourged them to get back their victory😹.
Finally, Argentina is gearing up to give their national team a hero's welcome as they will be arriving back home having won the world cup. Lionel Messi definitely the man of the moment. Congratulations 🎊🎉 to them.
