Beautiful And Sublime Sunday: Thai Lunch With My Brothers
Good morning, today is Sunday and it's time for a beautiful and sublime Sunday post.
I come from a big family; I am the youngest of 9 siblings. It is not easy to gather all of us together for a meal. In fact, that happens about once a year at our reunion dinner on the eve of Chinese New Year.
A few weeks ago, my brother Lawrence who stayed in Miri came over to Kuching. As my others siblings were not free, I had lunch with him and my other brother Michael. Since we wanted to try Thai food, we went to the Little Thai Restuarant which was only recently open.
I am in my sixties and my two older brothers are in their seventies. I am a foodie who likes to eat so my two brothers are slimmer than me.
Overall the decor of the restaurant was simple and chic. There were not too many customers at that time.
The shop also sells some products from Thailand as well.
Weaven baskets form part of the decor.
I am not too sure what this is. My guess is that these are Thai alphabets. Perhaps our Thai friends can tell us what is being written.
For those who prefer to have their meals outside, there is a terrace at the side of the shop. This is not pratical during lunch time as the weather is too hot. During dinner time, it will be more cooling to eat outside.
The Little Thai Restaurant offers a wide range of Thai dishes. What is surprising is that all of the dishes come in a standard size. Normally restuarants would offer large, medium or small portion, but not Little Thai. This is quite unusual as you would expect a table of say eight to order a big portion while a table of two may order a small portion of the same dish.
For our lunch, we ordered the Tom Yum seafood, Pattaya chicken and fried mixed vegetable.
The Tom Yum seafood comes with seafood such as prawns, cuttlefish and fish together with white mushroom. The soup was just nice, thick and not too spicy. It was mouth-watering and I really enjoyed it.
I had already taken Pandan Chicken just recently and so for this lunch I opted for Pattaya Chicken instead. The chicken was tender and juicy and it went very well with the special sauce provided.
The fried mixed vegetable was simple but tasty.
All in all, it was a good lunch. We had good food and managed to catch up with what is happening in our lives. We exchanged news especially on how our children are dooing. I am happy that I had the opportunity to have lunch with my brother Lawrence before he returned to Miri.
