Maravillas del Parque Las Cocuizas

Parque Las cocuizas.jpg

Las Cocuizas Park is located in the area of Castaño in the city of Maracay, in the Henry Pittier National Park, on the road that leads to the town of Choroni and the beautiful Arague coastline.

Located in a cloud forest landscape, this park offers natural wonders for visitors. Biodiversity is very high, varied species of plants and animals coexist in this beautiful mountain.

On Sunday my two daughters and I went to visit, we wanted to spend a different day, without stress or hurry, away from the city. We have the advantage that it is close to us, this park is located a few kilometers from the city.

.

We prepared the food we were going to take with us, the essential water, comfortable clothes for walking and also to take a dip in the cold waters of the river that runs through the park.

We prepared the food we were going to take with us, the essential water, comfortable clothes for walking and also to take a dip in the cold waters of the river that runs through the park.

We arrived and passed through the entrance guarded by park rangers and walked along trails that have been made to facilitate the movement of people. In this place there are many stones, some of them very big. We walked down to the river and settled in our favorite spot, near a well for bathing and very close to the trees on the mountain.

The water was very cold but tasty, it is very relaxing to bathe in them. The whole body feels healthy energy. There is a warm water creek that runs parallel to the river and there some parents take the opportunity to bathe their small children.

.

We spent some time admiring nature and taking pictures. In any space you can discover wonderful plants and animals, you just have to learn to observe.

.

The insects and other animals they hide or mimic among the vegetation or on the ground because their survival depends on it. Like this spider that we saw jumping between the stones of the river.

This red and black ant also on the stones of the river.

Beautifully colored butterflies like this bright orange one that was easy to photograph.

We hiked through the park to more secluded areas, getting a bit away from the people that are generally located in the northern part of the park, where there are certain services such as bathrooms and huts to prepare food and eat, but we prefer the most natural possible.

The heliconias also called platanillos are typical of the vegetation of the park, their flowers are very showy, with bracts of different colors

On the way there was this beautiful red flowering plant, a family weed and while we are photographing it, came this slender golden and green colored damselfly, and of course it fell into the nets of our camera. The difference between the damselfly and the dragonfly is that the latter keeps its wings spread when at rest, while the damselfly does not.

At the end of the tour we saw this wonderful tree, its tabular roots or buttresses that are so called because they are an adaptation to shallow soils, such as those that predominate in the mountains, support the ground and intermingle giving it an aspect of strength.

20210822_125303.jpg

I was very pleased that the park is cared for and is maintained as a protected place.

This is how our walk ended and we arrived home, grateful to be able to enjoy this beautiful nature, which filled us with energy.
