Esa Vida Nuestra. Iniciativa №21.
@maxjulisgf a participar.
That Life of Ours. Initiative №21. Tell us what you tell yourself... [ESP-ENG]
I am recalling those stories from my childhood and adolescence that have stayed in my life, some as anecdotes and others as beliefs that I have been discarding or accepting as true. With these experiences I participate in this initiative of @charjaim and the Holus&Lotus community: Tell us what you tell yourself.
In my family women predominate, we are six sisters and some of the stories I want to share are related to that process that begins with the development of women and that every month visits us, because that's how we used to say out of shame I got the visit, to name menstruation, period or period.
My mother said Drinking lemon juice or eating lemon cut the period. I did it many times but I didn't get the expected results so I discarded this story. I could drink a lot of lemon but it had no effect. I could see that from my own experience. So when I had my daughters and they told me about the effect of lemon, I was able to tell them with all propriety that it was not true.
A story I heard very often was related to the sea. When a woman has her menstruation or is pregnant and goes into the sea and the sea is calm, it makes the sea choppy, that is to say, it produces a strong swell.
I started to think now, what could be the relation between the two things, could it be that the hormones produced by the woman can be perceived by the sea? These questions without logical answers also led me to discard these beliefs, which I thought were very true.
The story of the eggs was a tale that grandmothers and mothers repeated very often and that I have still told my daughters on some occasions. It is that the custom has stuck with me. If you are menstruating you can't beat egg whites because they won't rise. Of course, now with the electric mixer things have changed. But I confess that I believed it even though there is no explanation that could relate both events.
I have thought that the condition of being a woman in the past was associated with some negative effects. Just as sailors used to say that a woman could not be on a ship because it would bring calamities.
Over time I began to consider menstruation as something very natural to my female body and not to feel ashamed of it and ignore the myths that existed. That I should not limit myself to certain activities on those days, such as physical exercise, swimming and others. So I told my four daughters. And the stories, tales and beliefs that I had heard and discarded I used them so that they would have some examples that we cannot believe everything that is transmitted by family tradition.
Strategies that I usually apply when I need to regain my balance and well-being.
During certain stages of my life I have needed to find the lost balance and I have learned from these experiences that it is fundamental to feel good about oneself, to be grateful and to move forward with what makes us happy.
Prayers are an important strategy in my life. They are fundamentally to be grateful and to be aware that I am a unique and special being who has every right to be happy. I repeat them frequently, sometimes I write them down, especially when I feel fear and doubts.
The contact with nature is a way to feel that I am not alone, it calms me and that exchange of energies is revitalizing. I feel that what worries me leaves my thoughts because it is the subconscious that makes me feel insecure. I see reality from another perspective. I walk daily in the park and sit down to breathe deeply and listen to the sounds of nature. I observe my surroundings and feel admiration for the perfection of life.

Being with my family and friends, conversing, laughing, sharing, helping, leads me to be in emotional and spiritual balance. Love is the key to a harmonious life.
