Ruleset
Holy Protection ruleset, all monster have Divine Shield ability.- Divine Shield ability, for the first attack the monsters will ignore the damage.
What Doesn't Kill You, all monsters have Enrage ability.- Enrage ability: Has increased Melee attack and Speed when damaged, for range and magic it only increases speed.
Mana cap. Can use element Water, Life, Death and Dragon.
My Lineup and strategy
- For the What Doesn't Kill You ruleset, we don't have a special strategy, but we will focus more on using melee monsters because we can increase their damage and speed if the HP decreases.
- For this Holy Protection ruleset, we should use a focus fire strategy because only the second attack can damage the enemy, focusing on attacking one monster will kill it faster.
In this battle, we use the Water element because the summoner can increase speed and armor which is very useful for dealing with melee attacks and ranged monsters, and many water monsters have good speed and HP.
| Summoner or monster | Abilities | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Summoner Have Speed and armor buff +1 to our friendly monsters | Due to limited mana in this battle, we expect that the enemy will also use a lot of melees and ranged monsters, because magic monsters use more mana and also die more easily. With additional armor, we will be able to face 1x melee and ranged attacks with any amount of damage and our HP will not decrease. The increased speed will increase the chance to attack first and hit the enemy, and hope can kill the enemy before they can attack us. The chance to evade the enemy attack will increase with high speed. | |
| Pelacor Bandit, 1st position, attacker and tanker. Has the ability Sneak, and Flying. | This is our main attacker who has fast speed, great damage, and Flying ability (increases the chance to evade melee and ranged attacks by 25%) with this ability I hope can evade some attacks. This monster usually puts behind and attacks the enemy monster in the last position because has Sneak ability, but I put it in the first position because of the high speed and damage, in a low mana battle 4 damage and 6 speed are high. | |
| Tide Biter, 2nd position, Attacker and 2nd tanker, has ability Reach, Reflection Shield, and True Aim. | Can attack from 2nd position because has Reach ability. Reflection Shield ability will ignore the damage of the Thorns and Blast effect. This monster can't missed. always hit the monster because of the ability of True Aim. Has good damage of 3, and a speed of 4. | |
| Merdaali Guardian, 3rd position, Support, has the ability Tank Heal, Repair, and Strengthen. | This monster is crucial in this battle to prolong the life of the monsters in front. With the ability Tank Heal and Repair, can restore some HP and armor lost from the enemy attack. Strengthen ability give +1 HP to all friendly monster this ability is useful too, with more HP giving more chance to survive the enemy attack. Put in this position to make sure safe from attack to support the front tanker. | |
| Igor Darkspear, 4th position, attacker, has the ability Stun. | Have good range damage of 3, and the ability to stun is very good, although the success rate to inflict upon the enemy while attacking is only 50% if the enemy got stunned it will skip the turn for 1 round. I put it in this position to protect it from enemy monsters who can attack from behind (Sneak ability). | |
| Torrent Fiend, 5th position, Tanker, has the ability Headwinds. | We used this because it has zero mana cost and has Headwinds ability which can decrease the enemy range attack by 1, this tanker to protect Igor from the enemy monster with Sneak ability. | |
| Chaos Agent, 6th Position, Tanker, Has Ability Dodge, Phase, and Backfire | Place in the last position, same like Torrent Fiend this monster is to protect our Igor. This monster although can't attack can reflect back the enemy's attack if they miss hitting this monster with the Backfire ability and deals 2 damage. Has a good evade ability with the Dodge ability which increases the chance of avoiding enemy attacks by 25%. Phase allows this monster to avoid magic-type attacks. Sometimes this monster can be annoying evading many attacks several times and Backfiring the attacker. |
The Battle
- Round 1:
As usual, the battle starts with buff and debuff from both sides.
In this round, no monsters died, the enemy split their attacks into several of our monsters: - Naga Assassin attacks our monster Pelacor Bandit and is successfully avoided.
- Celestial Harpy because it has the Opportunity ability (attacks monsters with the smallest HP) attacks Torrent Fiend, because the first attack does not produce damage due to the Holy Protection Torrent Friend ruleset ignores damage from Celestial Harpy.
- Stitch Leech and Uraeus attack Chaos Agent.
The attack from Stitch Leech only succeeded in removing the Chaos Agent's Divine Shield and did not produce any damage.
Uraeus' attack was successfully avoided and Uraeus received a counterattack from our monster Chaos Agent's Backfire ability.
Meanwhile, our 3 monsters attack 1 enemy monster, namely Pelacor Conjurer. Our Pelacor Bandit and Tide Bitter managed to hit it while the attack from Igor was successfully avoided because after getting hit by Tide Bitter which reduced the HP of Pelacor Conjurer this monster activated Enrage effect and speed increase drastically to 11 with Fly ability which can increase dodging ability by 25% and high speed will make it difficult for our monster Igor to hit him.
Our Tide Bitter because it has the True Aim ability will not have difficulty hitting this monster. Merdaali Guardian returns the armor of the Torrent Fiend that was lost when it was hit by the enemy monster **Celestial Harpy".
- Round 2 :
No monsters died in this round, the enemy monsters managed to hit our monsters Chaos Agent and Torrent Fiend. The Naga Assassin attack was again successfully avoided by Pelacor Bandit. The enemy monster Pelacor conjurer managed to avoid all attacks from our monster, and was only hit by Tide Bitter leaving 2 HP. In this round, Merdaali Guardian restores the armor of Torrent Fiend.
- Round 3 :
The enemy Naga Assassin manages to hit our Pelacor Bandit this round and disable the Divine Shield effect.
Chaos Agent, whose HP only had 1 remaining in this round, managed to dodge Uraeus's attack again and deal damage back, but was killed by the enemy monster Celestial Harpy. At the start of the round Celestial Harpy attacks Torrent Fiend because its HP is 3 which is the smallest of all the monsters, after Chaos Agent its HP is reduced to 1 Celestial Harpy attacks this monster. Pelacor Conjurer The enemy was successfully killed by Pelacor Bandit, so that the enemy Celestial Harpy advanced to the first position, and received attacks from Tide Bitter and Igor which gave a Stun effect to Celestial Harpy so that this monster can no longer attack in the next round. Merdaali Guardian returned to restore armor from Torrent Fiend.
- Round 4 :
Our Torrent Fiend who received attacks from Uraeus and Stitch Leech finally died.
The attack from Pelacor Bandit was avoided by the enemy monster Celestial Harpy, but the attack from Tide Bitter managed to kill Celestial Harpy. The enemy monster Stitch Leech advances to first place. Igor who attacked the enemy monster Stitch Leech failed to hit him because the speed was higher than Stitch Leech.
- Round 5 :
Although the attack from the enemy monster Uraeus did not cause damage to Igor, it managed to have a poison effect on Igor.
The attack from the enemy's Naga Assassin succeeded in destroying the armor of the Pelacor Bandit, Stitch Leech who has HP 8 attacked the Pelacor Bandit and got an additional HP of 2 because he has the ability Leech (every time you attack and hit the enemy's HP you will get additional HP).
Here we can see the difference before and after Pelacor Bandit and Stitch Leech have their HP reduced and get the Enrage effect :
- Round 6 :
The attack from the enemy monster Uraeus succeeded in destroying Igor's armor.
After activating the Enrage effect, the speed of our monster Pelacor Banditbecame the highest of all the monsters and in this round managed to avoid another attack from the Naga Assassin and became the first monster to attack the enemy monster Stitch Leech. Our Igor monster whose HP was reduced due to the poison effect of Uraeus increased its speed from 3 to 5 and got the next turn to attack Stitch Leech and succeeded in killing it. The enemy monster Uraeus advances to the first position, and gets attacked by Tide Bitter so that only 1 HP remains and activates the Enrage ability. Merdaali Guardian restores HP and armor from Pelacor Bandit. Here we managed to find a bug which we will discuss further below.
- Round 7 :
With higher speed the enemy monster Uraeus attacks our monster Pelacor Bandit but only succeeds in destroying our monster's armor. The attack from the enemy monster Naga Assassin was successfully avoided again by Pelacor Bandit. The attack from our Pelacor Bandit on Uraeus succeeded in killing him. Soul Fiend enemies are also killed by Tide Bitter. Only the Naga Assassin range of monsters remains that cannot attack, so victory will definitely be ours.
- Round 8-9 :
Igor who was affected by the poison died in round 9. Without getting any resistance from the enemy monsters, our monster Pelacor Bandit managed to kill him in round 9.
Did your Strategy Work?
In this battle, the enemy more focus on attacking our monster from behind, the speed of the enemy monsters is on average above our monsters because apart from their summoners being able to reduce speed, they also bring 2 monsters that have the ability Swiftness which can increase the speed of all monsters Soul Fiend and Naga Assassin.
Our defense is stronger than the enemy because of additional armor. With armor as well as the Holy Protection ruleset, enemies who attack monsters in several positions have difficulty killing our monsters in the back, giving our attacking monsters who focus on attacking enemy monsters in the first position the opportunity to kill them. We also benefit from our support monster Merdaali Guardian which can restore HP and armor.
Heal Cancel the Enrage?
I watched several of my guildmate battles in Enrage and found after the 2nd Healing Triage or Tank Heal ability the Enrage status reset. For the Heal ability I found in Pelacor Mercenary the first time, it heals already reset. I watch the enemy using Almo who has an immune status it happens too. If the monster is not healed the Enrage status will be there until the end of the battle. This is from my battle The first time Merdaali Guardian Heal the Pelacor Bandit because the HP decreased it's okay the Enrage status is still there it happens in Round 5 turn 7 :
This is the second time in Round 6 turn 9, you can see the Enrage status disappear and the status back to normal :
Those are the temporary results of my observations in several battles, which might be taken into consideration when bringing a monster to heal in the What Doesn't Kill You ruleset. Further testing is needed.
