Since I joined steemit a couple of days ago, I have spent less time on other social media platforms. Why? Because steemit tends to define for me, a purpose of social interaction that I didn't know existed or I would love.
Man cannot survive in isolation, we are not independent of one another. However, genuine relationships are those that are initiated out of sincerity of purpose. A situation where relationships are forced will only produce falsehood and chaos on the long run.
I have read some comments on many blogs where people feel offended when they follow someone and the person doesn't follow them in return. At other times, some announce to anyone who care to listen that "if you follow me, I will follow you." I personally feel relationships should evolve naturally without coercion, and that's also applicable to steemit.
On other social media platforms, we like or follow people on our own volition, even when there is no financial reward for it. Let's do same here, let's not 'make' others follow us because of the gain, but because they chose to and appreciate our content.
Don't upvote a post without reading it, don't follow anyone because they asked you to. Do so because you appreciate the post and you want to build a genuine connection with the author. Being paid doing so is just the icing on the cake, building a genuine social network where true frienship thrives, is the cake!
Let's build a homogeneous community where relationships evolve through sincerity of purpose and genuine appreciation of one another.
