Hi everyone! Pogier here with Brawl Report #17! This was the worst performance possible for me! Wanna know what happened and why? Read on below! Let's get started!
Overall Guild Performance: 5th Place
Once again, we took 5th place with 56 wins, 61 losses, and 0 draws. For our effort, we got 30 crowns with each participating member winning 1350 merits.
Viking Performance!
Like the Vikings of old, we must honor the warriors that secured the most victories! Let's all congratulate @UrchinTrader and @ShallWish for smashing through their foes! Shallwish deserves an even greater round of applause for a complete sweep!
Personal Brawl Results:
In this brawl, my score was 0 wins and 7 losses. I was assigned to Gold Level Untamed/Dice. I have taken this as the last time I would be experimenting to find out if a cheaper rented deck will win. The only time I had the most success in these brawls was w Let's check out my battles!
Battle Replays
Battle #1: Lose
In a blast with no magic, the winner of these types of fights are normally the faster one. The moment I saw his kitty, I knew I lost. The advantage of blind was completely negated and all my summoner gave was armor and return fire. My backline was swiftly destroyed because of the sneak attacks. Looking back at this match, I would've probably used Byzantine Kitty then gone for the full on opportunity attack setup, because speed is king.
Battle #2: Lose
I felt really good about this lineup that I made to highlight Captain Katie, but then I realized too late that I led her to her early death. By placing her right next to all the blast damage, she wasn't able to get strong. I think if I had placed her in the 3rd or 4th position and placed a tank next to my Shieldbearer, I would've been able to win this match. As the saying goes, "There is no medicide in this world for regret". The moment Captain Katie died, it was GG.
Battle #3: Lose
In a poison game mode, I knew I effed up bad when I saw that the monsters I placed were all low HP. They literally could only last 2 rounds of poison damage. This was a very stupid move on my part. Additionally, Llama is the King of this kind of game mode so it was an instant GG.
Battle #4: Lose
My goal here was to kill my enemy as fast as possible before the poison damage does me in. Oh how mistaken I was to do this. I was obliterated as the moment the Krakken got fury up, all my attacks were bound to miss. Add on the fact that they had sustain through the tank heal of Kitty, this was a GG.
Battle #5: Lose
I had no fire team prepared so I knew I would instantly lose. My only hope was that my enemy also didn't have a fire team but what were the chances of that? I ended up facing against a Yodin team! Let's not forget that they even made a mistake and placed the Serpentine Spy in the wrong spot! I ended up losing bad here. I had to rent the Pyre but there was no time to put a proper fire team together. In addition, I never use fire in brawls because aside from yodin, the other teams don't make sense to use in brawls.
Battle #6: Lose
This was a very close fight. Although I managed to counter their 2 magic damagers, the taunt was too good here and the secondary tank was too think that I was a bit helpless to deal with the damage to my backline. If I had placed Cornealus at the back and chosen a better secondary tank, I probably would have won this match. I think I won't be renting the Horny Toad any time soon.
Battle #7: Lose
This was another super close match! My strategy was to rely on flying to avoid as much melee or range damage. Low mana fights such as these always make me become more creative. I honestly thought I made a good plan here, but RNG just wouldn't give it to me. xD In the future I would probably just use a Mylor+ ranged damage dealing team.
Guildmate Brawl Highlights
@kalyus's match: My Yodin is Better than Yours!
Kalyus is showing that his yodin team is better than his opponents! With the addition of the chaos legion cards, he made some great picks here by taking the first turn! In addition, he has 2 units with bloodlust! The moment they got in their kills, it was GG.
@kalyus's match: Fatigue for the win!
This was an incredibly funny match! In a low mana fight, Kalyus once again showing the power of the new cards! The only actual damage to Oshannus was from the magic reflect! However both teams kept healing the tank so the match went into fatigue and was finally done by Round 23.
@urchintrader's match: Bloodlust vs Bloodlust!
This was a very close match! The Mylor pick of the enemy worked to whittle away at the health of the melee damage dealers of Urchin's team. Too bad that Grum managed to get in enough kills that once it became a 1v1 scenario versus the gladiator, he managed to eke out a close victory! It was lucky he didn't miss any crucial shots!
@urchintrader's match: Blast them away!
Urchin didn't hold anything back against the enemy Llama team! The enemy was prepared to have one unit with the last stand ability and to completely destroy once the last stand ability was activated. Too bad that the insane amount of damage on Urchin's team was way too much for the enemy to handle. Fancy a fireworks (blast) show? Check it out!
@cryptocopy's match: Quora the Tank!
Who says Quora can't be the main tank?! With the amount of sustain on cryptocopy's team, Quora was able to take any punishment. It was pretty funny how throughout the entire match, she didn't get any bloodlust. The Grenadier kept getting the last hit in! It was so funny! Even though the enemy Quora got last stand in, It was still not enough damage to destroy Cryptocopy's team and eventually the last stand Quora bit the dust!
@shallwish's match: 0 mana meat tanks are important!
I've never seen Fina Voxom before so I was amazed! Shallwish also utilized the shield ability of the Antoid Platoon to become a solid tank up front! The match was pretty close at the start but I think one of the big winning reason was that by adding the scorch fiend, there was an extra buffer of protection, which allowed the backline to do their thing!
@bp9930's match: Come at me, Gladiator!
This was a very unique choice in position. Normally one would place the main tank in front and the unit with reach on the 2nd position. This game mode however made BP choose to stray from convention. The Living Lava (level 1 if I might add!) swiftly took out a healer and a ranged damage dealer before he was defeated. On the frontlines, Chimney Wallstop was able to focus on the monsters in front of him and eventually gained 2 bloodlust. Too bad that there weren't more for the enemy Katrelba Gobson to get in more kills! It became a 1v1 gladius match with Katrelba going down to the 7 damage Chimney did!
Lessons Learned:
Obiously it's time to stop experimenting. After several bad frays, it's already obvious what teams work best and how to apply it. I've created my winning formula based on all these brawl reports, and it looks like I'd be spending around 700-1k dec per brawl for renting. I don't mind this much DEC since I actually earn them through renting out my cards. Hopefully this new mindset is enough to put me back as a top contributor of points in the guild!
