Hi everyone! Pogier here with Brawl Report #12! As usual, we are now up against the top guilds! Prepare your eyes for some awesome matches, and a lot of failures on my part! It's a good thing my guildmates carried my fat ass! Let's get started!
This time, we took 3rd place with 67 wins, 42 losses, and 0 draws. For our effort, we got 48 crowns with each participating member winning 2400 merits.
Captain's Bounty
No Bounty this time around, but there was extra motivation from @mightypanda to give chestnuts from Costco!
Like the Vikings of old, we must honor the warriors that secured the most victories! Let's all congratulate @Kalyus, @NO2, @Jordy007, @ShallWish, and @Papadoge for smashing through their foes! They only lost one match! HUZZAH!
In this brawl, my score was 1 win and 5 losses. I was assigned to Gold Level Untamed/Dice. I came in confident with my rents, thinking I rented what I needed, but it appears I didn't play well enough, and it shows in my score. Let's check out my battles!
The enemy quickly took advantage of the match as their tank was able to last longer on the front due to the heals. Eventually, It became a match between the two backlines as expected. This match was a loss for me BUT I realized where I made a mistake. I should have placed Quora Towershead behind Kron the Undying to maximize the Last Stand ability.
The back to basics ability here is where Lorna Shine's Divine Shield ability works well. I took the advantage from the start, but my lack of firepower proved to be my undoing here. The enemy would do more overall damage and would quickly decimate my line.
I took a lesson from a previous match and focused on ensuring that I had enough firepower at all times. I won this match because all of my monsters were attacking every round, while he only had 4 out of 6 monsters that could attack at the very beginning. My tank was able to power through and survive until all his tanks were defeated.
At first I thought that this was a sure win match for me. But then the moment my Chain Golem got poisoned, I knew I was rekt. The poison from the Horny Toad was super clutch and it was the key to victory. If I didn't get poisoned, I would have won this match, but that's what makes these matches so fun, and the same time so frustrating! Kudos to @amplyoskie for the win!
This was a super close match. I would normally have brought in a Byzantine Kitty for this kind of situation, but I didn't have one rented yet because of the cost. I went for my next best team which was the one I used! I almost won too, but then I was out-sustained in the end and lost to fatigue.
In this match, Mylor Crowling is back to haunt me! I came into this match ready to bring in a ton of damage with a gladius card on steroids, a.k.a. Last Stand. This would prove to be my undoing because of thorns. For a low mana match in Untamed/Dice, I think I would have had a better result if I used my life deck.
This match shows the power of the new Chaos Legion cards! Kalyus only brought in bronze level monsters and won! The magic was a great counter to the enemy as they brought armor, and based on how it looks, they were expecting a sneak attack, but BAM magic to the face!
This was a strategy of sustain versus burst! Kalyus's yodin team brought in so much damage, and it was under a time limit. They had to destroy the enemy team before the poison kills them. At first glance I thought it would go to the Llama Kron Quora combo, but the damage from Kalyus was really too much. Great match!
Just because Kron was rented, doesn't mean that it's an easy win.
Gladius cards are OP, but placing the right cards at the right game mode is the best answer. I added extra cards to my must rent list, to ensure that I can handle different kinds of game modes.
