Ode to my Late Granny,

This was a poem I wrote for my Late Granny three years ago about a month after she passed. Today would have been her 96th birthday. I miss her so much and it still doesn't seem real after all this time. Granny, I hope you are having a big party up in heaven with Grandad, your siblings and Great Granny. I will be raising a glass of gin for you later.🌻🕊

Cuddles in the Sky

"That day when you left me
I knew it was time.
I felt different, I didn’t know why.

The news broke that you were gone.
In my heart I felt a shudder,
All my tears flowed.

You were around for me to see
That shining light,
Burning so brightly.

I felt your touch.
It was going to be alright.
Beside me, you held me tight.

The cuddles, I remember
Sat on your knee.
Taught me to read and write…ABC.

Those journeys we had
The arcades and rides.
Always made sure I left with the prize.

So glamorous, so caring
Gin never far away.
My expensive tastes, you showed me the way.

Christmas was magical,
Decorations and tree.
We were together, couldn’t wait to see.

This year is different
Without you here.
I miss you so much, Granny dear!

Raise a glass, it may not be gin.
Champagne for me,
You know it’s a win!

So here I am, just a quick hi.
Always in my thoughts.
Cuddles in the sky."

I love you Granny. Happy Birthday, Meow! 🐾 xx
