You're spot on, @steevc - it's best to be prepared for a long journey when you travel EV. I use the Zap Map App, and plot out a route the day before, They have really up to date info on it, and you can see what type of chargers there are, and it tells you when they were last in use, or if the chargers are out of order, etc. I then check to see if I can just rock up and pay (like you can do with InstaVolt) or if you need to be registered with an App before you can charge (like Charge My Street) In that case I download the App and register before we set off. A lot of the EV charging brands have their own map and search function now, so there's a lot of choice out there now. Hope this makes sense!

One nice addition that's becoming more widespread is venues installing Type 2 Chargers - Ben and I travelled down South for a wedding last Summer. I rang them before we left to see if they had a charger (they did, yay) and once we got there, we hooked it up to the charger and went to the wedding. So nice not to have to worry about finding a charger as soon as we headed home.
