Research: Over 1,000 Cryptocurrencies are “Dead Projects” :- As per data collated by Coinopsy and Dead Coins, two digital currency tracking websites, an estimated 1,000 cryptocurrencies projects are lacking any development or future activity in their protocol, and have, among themselves, raised billions of dollars worth of BTC and ETH.While global law enforcement may have scrutinized hundreds of token issuers to determine their legitimacy, amateur investors were largely oblivious to basic due diligence and made a million dollar investments in coins’ whose names are enough to ring alarm bells – including CryptoMeth, OreoCoin, and Snowballs. A $700 Million Cryptocurrency Called Ontology Is About to Go Live :- If all goes well, $700 million worth of cryptocurrency is about to find a new home.That's because Shanghai-based Ontology, a project working closely with those behind the "smart economy" blockchain Neo, is expected to launch its live blockchain on June 30, a step that will find one of the top 20 crypto assets finally releasing its own proprietary technology.Described as an enterprise-focused platform, Ontology is seeking to provide a high volume of fast and cheap transactions, all while helping businesses grapple with the thorny problems of interoperability and identity. Could Tron[TRX] and Cardano [ADA] Strike a New Partnership? :- The conversation began on Monday, June 25, when Hoskinson mentioned Sun in a Twitter post and asked him to try Mantis, which is a Scala client supported by IOHK, as it is much safer and is compatible with a DPoS protocol.The tweet read:

Union Square Ventures to Invest in Crypto and Blockchain Long-Term Without Dedicated Fund :- Union Square Ventures (USV), a private equity and venture capital firm, has plans to invest in blockchain and cryptocurrenciesover the course of the next 10 years, CNBC reports June 29. Those plans, however, do not include establishing a separate fund.Albert Wenger, managing partner at USV, told CNBC that “we see a lot of upside to keeping it under the same roof.” Despite prevailing the bear market in cryptocurrency, the company has an optimistic long-term view of the industry. Austrian Financial Authority Calls for Tighter Regulation of ICOs and Cryptocurrencies :- Board directors of the Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA), Klaus Kumpfmüller and Helmut Ettl, have have offered proposals for stricter regulations on cryptocurrenciesand initial coin offerings (ICOs), Cointelegraph auf Deutsch reports today, June 29.According to an article published in the Austrian newspaper Die Presse on the June 29, Kumpfmüller proposed a "threshold-dependent" prospectus requirement for ICOs similar to that of securities. The FMA executive committee defined a "reasonable" threshold as two million euros. In addition, according to Kumpfmüller, there should be a concession obligation for distributors of cryptocurrencies and that these "will be treated like securities in the future". Read here
