Incoming Storm
There were five of us on a horseback trip in Yosemite. We had a few miles behind us that were covered quickly. We were eyeing the incoming storm in front of us. We were heading right in its path. The cabins were about 3 more miles away. Nudging our steeds to pick up the pace, we silently watch the progressive storm as it moves across the open sky. Landmarks! Ok, 2 miles to go. Come on guys, kick it up a notch, said the guide. We rode at a canter for the last bit of trail. Cabins are in sight. The horses are getting antsy and wanting to run. We round the last trail-head and jump off the horses to unsaddle them and unload the pack mules. We hit the cabins just as the sky opened up right above us. As quick as we could, we tossed our bags.....
This was one of the trail-heads we were on. There is nothing better than riding horseback, in Yosemite's back country. That's me on one of the horses I rode while working there. It's an amazing feeling when you get out of the city for a few weeks.
