The innate commonality of humanity is connection. While connection ranges from conversation to laughter to sharing interests - hobbies are heavily influential on how we connect and how intense our connections to other people can be.
While 2017 was the year I got heavily involved in cryptocurrency, from research and obsessing over it - I learned that I need to treat this hobby the same as other hobbies that excite and intrigue me. Whether it be reading, doing design and art, or playing video games - the point in which you give too much time to a hobby where it starts to feel like a job, is the point you're not having a healthy hobby.
A hobby is something you look forward to and inspires you but also doesn't interfere with your work or personal life. I'm an obsessor when it comes to things that interest me, sometimes this is an advantage while other times it inhibits me.
This post is a simple reminder to myself and the Steemit community that hobbies are important, and the time in between them is important as well. Enjoy your side passions and hobbies, but make sure you're always enjoying them. When something you started doing for fun becomes more stressful or daunting, reflect on why this is the case scenario.
