While browsing in my photo archive this morning, I found this nice shot. The photo was taken in May 2015 at the Loreley on the beautiful Rhine. We visited this beautiful place at that time, and we spent a nice extended weekend, despite the weather conditions. Directly at the visitors' center, a part of the car park is reserved for mobile homes. The peace that you can enjoy there, in the remote place, especially at night is phenomenal.
The photos were taken at the beautiful terrace of the small restaurant, where you can eat food and drink with a view of the Rhine.
I found further photos of this exquisite location and I thought that I should share this place with my friends on Steemit.
I think the Loreley is probably known to most of you, but I will nevertheless give some facts:
The Loreley is a slate rock, located in the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Upper Middle Rhine Valley". The famous "Rock" lies at Sankt Goarshausen, Rhineland-Palatinate, on the east, right, Rhine bank. The rock is 132 meters (193.14 meters above sea level) high and very steep. It is located on the inside of a Rheincurve. The view from above to these Rheincurves and to the village of Sankt Goarshausen is unique. Directly at this point of view there is a very nice outdoor stage, which regularly hosts major events and concerts.
The Loreley is legendary, many poets and song-makers have incorporated them into their works. The most famous is the poem by Heinrich Heine, which characterizes the figure of the Loreley as a water mermaid, who, like a siren, captures the men on the Rhine ships by her song and beauty. Distracted by this, they perished in the dangerous current and ravages, and lost their lives.
My wife had secured the campers doors at night, to avoid me following the sining of the Loreley. ;)

Beim Stöbern in meinem Fotoarchiv bin ich heute morgen auf diese nette Aufnahme gestossen. Das Foto entstand im Mai 2015 auf der Loreley am schönen Rhein. Wir besuchten damals diesen schönen Ort, wo wir, trotz durchwachsenen Wetterverhältnissen ein schönes verlängertes Wochenende verbrachten. Direkt am Besucherzentrum ist ein Teil des Parkplatzes den Wohnmobilen vorbehalten. Die Ruhe die man dort, auf dem abgelegenen Platz, zumal nachts geniessen kann ist phänomenal. Die Fotos wurden an der schönen Terrasse der kleinen Gastwirtschaft aufgenommen, wo man mit Blick auf den Rhein Speis und Trank zu sich nehmen kann.
Ich fand daraufhin noch weitere Fotos von dieser exquisiten Location und habe mir gedacht, dass ich diesen Ort mit meinen Freunden auf Steemit teilen sollte.
Ich glaube, die Loreley selbst dürfte den meisten bekannt sein, ich will aber dann doch noch ein paar Fakten zum Besten geben:
Bei der Loreley handelt es sich um einen Schieferfelsen, gelegen im UNESCO-Welterbe Oberes Mittelrheintal. Der berühmte "Felsen" liegt bei Sankt Goarshausen, Rheinland-Pfalz, am östlichen, rechten, Rheinufer. Der Felsen ist 132 Meter (193,14 m ü. NN) hoch und sehr steil aufragend. Er befindet sich an der Innenseite einer Rheinkurve. Der Blick von oben auf diese Rheinkurven und auf die Ortschaft Sankt Goarshausen ist einzigartig. Direkt bei diesem Aussichtspunkt entfernt befindet sich eine ganz tolle Freilichtbühne, welche regelmäßig Großveranstaltungen und Konzerte beherbergt.
Der Rheinfelsen ist sagenumwoben, viele Dichter und Liedermacher haben sie in ihre Werke einfliessen lassen. Das bekannteste ist das Gedicht von Heinrich Heine, welchs die Figur der Loreley als eine Wassernixe prägte, die als Sirene durch ihren Gesang und ihre Schönheit die Männer auf den Rheinschiffen in ihren Bann zieht. Hierdurch abgelenkt, verunglückten sie in der gefährlichen Strömung undFelsenriffen und verloren ihr Leben.
Meine Frau hatte vorsichtshalber in der Nacht das Wohnmobil abgesperre, nicht dass ich dem Gesang der Loreley folge. ;)
