Hello HIVE world, today's post is a short story of my authorship, which highlights the value of learning from the experience of others, to solve some situations on the road of life.

Logs for the road

A young woodcutter's apprentice, finished his work, the way home through the forest, but to return where he came at that time, was not recommended, the night would soon fall and the darkness brings out the dangers of the forest.

So he followed in the footsteps of an experienced old woodcutter, who was given the difficult task of training him.

The old lumberjack would pick up badly cut, defective logs and carry them around in a sack, making them heavier and heavier.

The young man did not understand the old man's action; with each log picked up, the old woodcutter would say: "one for the road", and he would go on like this all the way

The young man with curiosity and distrust asked:

-Old man, why do you pick up those worthless pieces of wood? You waste time! and you carry a useless burden...

The old man interrupted him, while he was picking up another one:

-They are for the road, you, you should do the same, if you want to get home.

The young man, doubtful, distrustful, after a while of complaining, began to collect some logs, most of them light, there were more that he discarded than he collected.

Soon, both walkers stopped in front of a large quicksand swamp.

-Now, how are we going to get through?- The young man asked himself
Night is falling behind us, we should have gone back the way we came- he complained, looking at the old man with disgust.

The old woodcutter, without responding to the young man's call, approached the edge of the swamp, and dropped one by one the trunks he had picked up, "for the road", stepping on each one of them and slowly making his way through the swamp to the other bank. Eeach trunk he stepped on, sinking as he went.

The young man, who had not collected enough logs and most of them were too weak to support his weight, was unable to pass.

After that night, of cold, fear, hunger, the young woodcutter learned and always looked for the fallen logs, "for the road", so he could get home.

Sometimes we have to do things that displease us, we perceive them without purpose, but they can be useful to achieve an end.
The experience of others, we cannot always use it, but we can learn from it
