Viewing my perspective as a Science Teacher, whenever I see a rainbow in the sky, I remember the reflection and refraction of the sunlight through the water droplets in the atmosphere.
But it does not end there; life has a lot of stories to tell, and the vibrant display reflects a shining symbol of hope and a beautiful scene after the rain.
I remember when I was younger, my childhood playmates kept on saying that rainbows have magical powers. It is often told during our playtime that pointing at a rainbow will lead to losing a finger.
Little did I know that it was only a superstition, and the origin of this was unclear. That was horrible, and I was scared to point at it, although I love seeing a rainbow. Every time I look at it, I see a shining symbol of hope.
Another version of the superstitious belief was that if I point at a rainbow with an open hand, it will be struck momentarily by lightning. This idea sounds funny to me now that I have grown up, but when I was younger, this belief was indeed terrifying.
Besides, there were no scientific facts to support the claim that hunting at a rainbow is harmful. Maybe this is only part of the crazy little things with my childhood friend, and it was fun. However, I always enjoy the marvelous beauty of this natural wonder.
And now, as I opened my eyes to reality, I am no anymore a little kid who would enjoy the fun and crazy things about a rainbow.
I view a rainbow as a shining symbol of hope through the rain, for without rain, there will be no rainbows.
Here in the Philippines, I love listening to the song by South Border, “Rainbow,” saying that there is a rainbow always after the rain. And that, even if life is hard, just like a rainbow, it appears after the challenging moments when I felt falling on the ground, and I have an incredible feeling of making me stronger and wiser.
Perhaps a rainbow always reminds me that life is full of ups and downs and incomplete without twists and turns. Yet during the darkest moments of my existence, I firmly believe that there is always a bright new hope that embraces me every time.
The fact that a rainbow only appears after a storm when the Sun breaks through the clouds and reflects its light on the raindrops is so incredible. The combination of light and darkness creates a spectacular rainbow that is one of the most radiant lights that inspire me.
Even when the world feels so dark and uncertain, the beauty of the world reflects the most spectacular lights in stunning colors.
Perhaps inspiration from a beautiful rainbow always gives me hope. That is why it always feels so good to look for rainbows in my life, literally and figuratively, as I see a glimpse of light that keeps me going no matter what life may bring me today and tomorrow.
And that a rainbow is like an inspiration that brings bright colors to my stormy day. In my darkest moments, I see a vivid light, and I must say that a rainbow always captivates my heart, not just by its beauty but the reflection it represents from struggling days to triumphant moments.
