The National Memorial of the eternal symbol of paying homage to the nation in memory of the heroes of the great martyr of the glorious victory of the great liberation war of 1971.

The National Monument is located in Savar upazila, 35 kilometers northwest of Dhaka. Here the huge monument complex has been set up with 44 hectares of land. A decisive battle with the Pakistani invaders captured in Savar on the eve of the final victory in December 1971 was a bloody war. There is a plan to build a memorial at Savar after the final victory of the freedom fighters, their heroism and sacrifice.

Architect Syed Mainul Hossain's design was chosen as the best by 57 designs. After the 1982 construction of the main structure of the monument, artificial lake and gardens was completed. It has become the national symbol of paying tributes to the best children of the nation.

The original structure of the monument is made of seven pairs of triangular walls. The middle wall is the longest in length but the highest in height. The highest point of the monument is 150 feet high.

The entire complex includes artificial water bodies, gardens and mass graves. Apart from the Savar region in the mass graves of the Mausoleum Complex, the martyrs of the massacre of Pakistani soldiers and Biharis were buried in various places in Dhaka. There is a lake in front of the national monument, which reflects the main structure of the national monument and the national flag reflecting. This flower blooms the National Flower water lily.

The memorial consists of seven pairs of triangle. These seven pairs of walls indicate seven different steps of the independence struggle. The stages are:

A. Language Movement of 1952.

B. 1954 United Front election

C. Movement of the Constituent Movement of 1956

D. Education Movement of 1962

E. The six-point movement of 1966

F. 1969 mass upsurge and

G. The great liberation war of 1971.

There is no entry price to enter Savar National Memorial. It is open from 6am to 6pm every morning.
