After Olivia detected a chimera location, I spoke with the Sheriff at the town hall regarding the Baron's secret chemical experiments. Leaving the town hall, I traversed rooftops, sniped bandits, tested my new hunter bow on infected, and cleared out hostile scavengers inside a building.
Olivia contacted me over comms to report that she had been digging through old data and located another chimera near an ancient monument. Although the test coordinates were outdated, she suggested checking with someone at the town hall for more information.
Following Olivia's advice, I headed inside the town hall to speak with the Sheriff. Kyle asked her about the old monument and brought up rumors that the Baron's men had been active in that sector.
The Sheriff confirmed that her rangers reported activity there weeks prior and had driven the soldiers off. However, her scouts spotted chemical containers left behind. She suspected the Baron was conducting clandestine experiments at the site and advised me to keep my distance.
With enough intel gathered from the Sheriff, I bypassed speaking to Jacob and prepared to investigate the monument directly. Exiting through the main front gate of the town hall, I noticed the courtyard was packed with hungry infected wandering the grounds.
Thanks to the UV light array installed at the entrance, none of the monsters rushed to attack me.
To navigate safely, I immediately climbed onto the high rooftops, bypassing the horde packed into the streets below. I located a zipline and used it to cross a massive gap in the city layout.
On a nearby ledge, I spotted two of the Baron's armed guards patrolling the area. Though I could have bypassed them, I chose to take them down.
I crept up behind them, lined up a headshot, and put a bullet straight through the first guard's head. I eliminated the second guard shortly after, spending extra rounds to finish him off due to a shaky aim.
The loud gunshots instantly attracted a pair of boosters, forced me to draw my handgun and shoot them dead.
Continuing toward the objective, I decided to test my newly crafted hunter bow on an infected. I dropped the zombie with a single arrow directly into the skull.
Hoping to retrieve the arrows, I landed another clean headshot on a second zombie, only to find that the intact arrows could not be looted back from their heads.
Resuming my route toward the monument, I overheard voices coming from inside a nearby apartment building. Assuming the Baron's soldiers were sweeping the structure, I moved in to eliminate the threat before pushing forward.
Closing the distance, I saw that a horde of infected had ambushed the occupants, who turned out to be scavengers rather than the Baron's troops. As the two armed scavengers turned their weapons toward me, I opened fire and dropped them both.
The gunfire drew two more boosters into the room. Wanting to conserve ammunition, I drew my melee weapon and beat both creatures to death.
