When I see a tool, I don't think, what if someone doesn't have access to this tool, I just use it for its intended purpose and live within my means. Living within my means has made my basic needs easy to achieve, I needed only myself for that but have credited others to live a higher quality of living in a modern home. I paid for those walls, and I wasn't offered anything to promote for the designer or the construction company, so as far as I am concerned, I am the sole proprietor of this facility and owe no one for this experience that I am freely and independently able to partake in.
Some logical fallacies I found in your words, in my opinion, feel free to debate me.
Composition
Assuming that characteristics or beliefs of some or all of a group apply to the entire group.
@sinistry "I believe we still need an "all basic needs met" policy when it comes to maintaining a healthy society"
Reflection: When you say all basic needs met, you are ignorant to the different supply of resources that each individual would have access to in this "society". In my opinion, suggesting that we could meet the needs of Innuit Eskimos and African Tribes, which would have such entirely different access to resources to meet their basic needs, that relevancy would overrule any sort of organization as a community because the skilled trade and natural knowledge of each individual group would NOT be basic needs, yet entirely relative to their basic needs being met.
Gambler's Fallacy
Assuming the history of outcomes will affect future outcomes.
The whole tone of this reply feels like you give too much credit to circumstance. Which exists, but doesn't denominate human nature any more than another species.
Denying the Antecedent
There isn't only one explanation for an outcome. So it's false to assume the cause based on the effect.
@sinistry "the fundamental idea that we live in a society and in order for it to function there needs to be a floor people can't fall beneath"
Reflection: That's a protectionist mind state that not all of us believe in.
Appeal to Pity
Attempt to induce pity to sway opponents.
@sinistry "your position seems to lack the fundamental idea that we live in a society and in order for it to function there needs to be a floor people can't fall beneath, otherwise those that do cause the whole body to rot from within."
Reflection: A society that needs the individual to be a servant to his peers? Not sure what definition of society you refer to, but I don't feel like I am rotting from within, and the main issue is the socialist programs I am paying for with my tax dollar. I already pay tax when I buy Ice Cream, but they want more... The rot you speak of could be elaborated on, the 40%+ factory workers who went home on income assistance and are now prescribed fentanyl that they sell manifesting the opioid crisis. The rot is inherent in the will of the individual and I feel no pity for men who have willing destroyed their culture. You have the choice, in every moment, to do the right thing. Right being subjective to human duality, further brings up my reflection on how diversity and different natural circumstances would make co-existence irrelevant at a certain point, where the logical conclusion would be self-preservation.
