I'm not arguing with any particular point, but your position seems to lack the fundamental idea that we live in a society and in order for it to function there needs to be a floor people can't fall beneath, otherwise those that do cause the whole body to rot from within.

No one anyone knows got to where there are solely on their own. Each of us is born into a situation of varying degrees of advantage and disadvantage from uncalculatable factors and it only gets more complex as we go.

So while I agree that people need to find their own path to financial freedom, I believe we still need an "all basic needs met" policy when it comes to maintaining a healthy society otherwise we just end up pouring resources into an endless supply of bandages that attempt to cover the wound without actually treating it when it would be cheaper and healthier in the long run to just go to the doc and get the shot.
