When was the last time you checked your smartphone? Your probably using it right now to read this blog. And your going to keep using it until your eyes fail, and you admit defeat to sleep.
Research reveals that smartphones consume 50% of a person's daily attention. That means that you spend more time with your phone, than actual "real" people. This is sad news, considering that interaction between people is good for health and wellbeing.
So why are you spending so much time on your smartphones?
The Huffington Post suggests that the more problems you have in life, the more likely you are to spend time on your phones. Apps such as Facebook and Instagram help us to forget about our life, and act as a tool of escapism.
How does Smartphone affect your Health?
• Social: Smartphone usuage implies that you'd rather use WatsApp or FaceBook Messenger to communicate, rather than in person. This situation leads to an anti-social personality, which breeds contempt for spoken communication.
•Physical: Smartphones have bright screens, and the bright light damages your eyes with bad consequences. Your eyes are very sensitive, so it would be wise to keep your screen's brightness levels on low. Also, holding a device for so long can affect the lubrication of your finger joints, especially your thumbs.
Moreover, staring at a screen for so long has the effect of producing a zombie like state. Your mind should always be active, not stuck in FaceBook all day.
Conclusion:
Try to limit your smartphone usuage as much as possible. Only use your smartphone if you have to. Also, spend more time talking to people in person, and reduce the amount of time you spend on messaging apps.
*Remember, human interaction will always be more valuable than an emoji. 😄
