I spent some six months in the US, know that most (many) people over there still believe that "we are the best at everything" propaganda but I didn´t know about the military thing. Crazy. But totally fits in the narrative. All of this is partly caused by the fact that many Americans never actually leave their country. It´s big enough for cool domestic traveling but it´s the international traveling what actually broadens horizons. I mean the US folks that I know that live here in Europe have just so much different opinions on pretty much everything in the US than their fellow countrymen who never leave the US...
