Hey, Steemians! So I just had to joke around for a moment:
I made a deal on Simbi, the barter site - my referral link, where I got a few DVDs from someone. Two of them were replacements for movies I already have on VHS. Yes, VHS. My television is a wee tiny CRT one with an attached VCR. But I hardly use it, so after I got rid of a bunch of VHS tapes and DVDs to start with, I noted which of my favorites that I still watch were starting to get warped (as tapes do), and which ones I would really want to replace if the VCR/TV stopped working even if they weren't warped. Because, if this TV breaks, I have no intention of replacing it. I just don't use a TV enough to really justify buying one. So, downloadables or DVDs which I can play on my Kindle or laptop.
I already got replacements for Dead Poets Society and Legends of the Fall, and also on the list was The 13th Warrior. Because who doesn't love Vikings v. Neanderthals?
I realize DVDs are old school to most people, and if people have hard copies at all, which is rare in itself, they have Blu Ray generally, but no I still have a CRT television, you think I give a shit about a few more pixels or surround sound or whatever the fuck? Nah. I want the story, not the immersive shiny experience. 3D and VR and 4000 pixels or whatever the fuck the 60" monster screens are? No thanks. I want to curl in bed with my laptop with the sound down low on a small screen that won't hurt my farsighted eyes. LOL
But hey, at least I'm in the 21st century now. Digital vikings v. neanderthals. High tech, y'all!
