Hello, cat people! Today I'll be reviewing The Hunting Snacker from Doc and Phoebe's, a food puzzle for cats.
Y'all know that I like to keep things interesting for Yuan so he's happy and doesn't get bored. He's a smart cat and figures things out pretty fast, so you have to change it up with him! In addition to mental stimulation, food puzzles where he has to bat it around like this one offer a little bit of exercise instead of just sitting at a bowl.
A wise man
So this toy has a little compartment where you put the treats or food, and the door slides so it can be more or less open, depending on how big your food/treat pieces are, or how difficult you want it to be for them to fall out. The compartment fits inside a cloth mouse.
So I loaded it up with some Temptations treats (gotta do treats over food at least at the beginning to make it enticing!), and Yuan started playing with it right away.
I've set it up for him the past two days, the first day with the door wide open so it was easy, and the second day a bit more closed so it was harder to get the treats out. He has successfully gotten all the treats out both times.
The next step to make it more challenging is to start hiding it around the apartment for him to find, so he really has to hunt for it! :)
This puzzle gets two paws up from Yuan. Maybe your kitties would like it, too!
