The emerald is one of the 4 precious stones; among diamonds, sapphires and rubies.
It is even sometimes sold more expensive than diamonds.

She is green. She draws this color from chrome and vanadium.
It is between 7.5 and 8 on the Mohs scale. Which makes it the least precious stone.

Emeralds often have inclusions in the stone. That's what makes them beautiful, and it's also thanks to them that we can sometimes know where they come from.

The word emerald comes from Latin, it means "heart of stone". It has been used as a bargaining chip since ancient times. Even in the second millennium BC, it can be traced.

For the record, the biggest emerald in the world weighs 38 kilos for 180 000 carats. It is valued at $ 400 million.
It has no owners at the moment because Brazil and an American group named the FM holdings are fighting over this pretty rock.
