a. COUPLE ABUSE;-

This type of violence occurs between husbands and wife. Here, the couples engage in verbal disagreement which leads to assault of each other. It leads to physical fighting between husbands and wives
couples abusing each other constantly can result to the following

1. Poor raising of Children
2. Afflicting injuries in the bodies/health problem
3. Anti social behaviors like flirting, keeping late nights and so on can be observed
4. Breakup of the marriage
5. Emotional stress resulting in heartbreak
6. Excessive drinking, eating and even use of drugs

b. CHILD ABUSE.;-

It is a cruel or violent treatment of a child. It can be physical, sexual, emotional abuse e.t.c. Physical abuse;-When you deliberately smack, beat, inflict injury on their children and cut them with sharp object. All these are physical abuse of the child. These physical abuse result to injury or everlasting scars on the Childs body and even emotions.

c. SEXUAL ABUSE;-

many children in our society are sexually abused . Sexual abuse of a child is engaging him/her to provide sexual satisfaction or fornication gain to the person initiating it. This may be inform of incest or rape

This involves acts like verbal or emotional attacks on the child. The constant attacks or quarrels can cause negative conduct or mental problems like children withdrawing from many social activities

e. PARENTAL NEGLECT;-

Parental neglect mostly occur where parents are involved in frequent domestic violence. Here, parents fail to provide necessary for the child e.g. no adequate feeding, clothing, and shelter. The children roam about in the street without adequate medical and educational attention.

Effects of child abuse

When a child is abused in any or more of the forms treated above, the following effects may be felt.

1. Emotional instability.
2. Mental instability.
3. Fear
4. Unwanted pregnancy, contraction of STD’s
5. Loss of Concentration
6. Death

Prevention of Domestic Violence

1. Parents should avoid fighting in the presence of Children
2. Proper family planning
3. Parents should not treat issues of abuse with laxity
4. Avoid communication gap
5. Resolving problem should follow dialogue of their children
6. Issues that could lead to violence should be avoided
