Sometimes I wonder why have we made a society like this, like a one-way path where it only flows down and barely flows up.
I suppose you answered yourself in this sentence... Can a river go upstream, or does it flow in one direction? 🙂 I mean, our life begins with our parents, but it's not the beginning of everything; our parents had their parents... And priorities are changing, with, I suppose, the needs of others... Our children need us when they are small... When they grow up, they have their own children, and they don't need us anymore...
On the other side, as we get older, we do need help, and the obvious direction is to ask for it from our children... I don't know what the right thing to do is, but leaving our parents to struggle alone in old age isn't the right choice either... As usual, the answer is to make a balance between the needs of the young and old...
Not sure if the "old way" of living under 1 roof was the right answer either... Generation gap, misunderstandings, and harder connections with others outside the family...
Nice topic for an early morning brainstorming and reflection... 😃
