Wow! Can't believe that I will connect two weeks in a row that I have made a #WednesdayWalk post! You know guys that I don't like to post if I don't have something awesome to share, so here we are with a bit different post... Three months ago, I did a post with the same walking route, but this time, I will try to show you something that I didn't back then... On this route, there are numerous beach bars which are very popular among tourists, but also among locals...
No, it will not be drinking in every single bar like in that movie The World's End (must watch with Martin Freeman and Simon Pegg), as I took my walk early in the morning when they were still closed... Okay, it was an early morning for Spaniards, as it was around 8 AM... :)
But, before we dive into it, just a short definition of chiringuito, taken from Wikipedia.org:
A Chiringuito (also known by other nicknames in Spanish) is a small enterprise, usually a bar, selling mainly drinks and tapas, and sometimes meals, in a more or less provisional building, often on a beach or loose surface where a more permanent structure may be inviable.
The first one was Merendero Arrecife, which is situated at the Olla beach, which interestingly has a special part for dogs! In Spain, it is prohibited to bring pets to the beach, but there are beaches where you can, like this one... On the left of this bar, you can find that part...
But, this time, we are going to the right, where we can find a small stand where you can rent kayaks and little boats with pedals... As I have mentioned, it was early and the beach is almost empty...
Slowly, we are reaching the second beach bar named El Sigarro, which is actually situated at the same beach...
You have noticed the pattern... They look almost the same... :) I suppose that the same company made both... :)
On my way to the third bar, I saw this awesome van that has hundreds of stickers! If you right-click on the image and open it in the new tab, you can zoom in and check them...
Among all of them, one sticks out and has a special place! The well-known Ghostbusters sign! :)
And now, back to our today's topic... The next one on the list is El Cranc which can be counted as the last chiringuito on the long Platja de l'Olla beach... As you have noticed, this one is constructed differently than the first two and it looks more like a modern restaurant on the beach... Just a few steps, there are 2 bars more, but I didn't take a photo of them this time...
This isn't a bar, but an ordinary front yard of one apartment...
What you can see from a distance is the last beach bar on this beach, but it can be counted as a port bar, as its name says exactly that, Chiringuito El Portet...
After the bar, there is a cozy, small beach Cala del soio...
After a long(er) walk, we are coming to the beach after the biggest port in Altea... This one is a "portable" bar as it is taken away during the winter and brought back in the spring... It's named Tsunami and it looks almost the same as those two from the beginning...
This is the message that I have to read every day... :) Tbh, when I was walking back home, my idea was to sit in this bar and take a coffee (I never drink coffee, but I would do it just for views... and listen to this sign")... But, unfortunately, this bar opens at 10:30, so I didn't accomplish my mission... :)
After a rocky part of the seaside, we are closing to the most popular chiringuito in this area, which is called... El Chiringuito... 馃槂 Even if it had the name that should describe the word chiringuito, I wouldn't call it 100% like that... It's not situated directly on the beach like those previously mentioned, as you have to cross a road to go into it... And the other thing is that it is huge!
But, the most important thing about this bar/restaurant is that they serve the best paella in the area... Of course, the best one is in Valencia, but these guys are doing it very, very well... Whenever we have some guests, we take them to try the real valencias paella!
