They still do paper/plastic covered wire for some. Seems more reuse/trash friendly, especially paper covered. Yeah I remember the save the tree campaigns. Gas stations have plastic straws as stir sticks for coffee now. Those extremely thin sticks of wood are probably way better on the whole.

Maybe we should just use materials for what they're good at. Paper straws and cardboard bag twist clips ain't it.
