Currently the US Congress and Presidency is dominated by one party, which continually expresses open hostility to the Constitution's Second Amendment. And they continually approve of foreign military intervention that results in innocent people being destroyed, even in the middle of a botched withdrawal from a foreign military intervention. That's not to say that members of other political parties don't also support foreign military excursions, if only passively, but they don't have an open hostility to the right of the people to have and use the means to defend themselves.
