Steam is more mature and has better community features. It's become a de facto place where people buy and keep their games, friend lists, cloud saves, screenshots, etc. It takes a lot to break into a market that has been de facto cornered and battle the monopoly. A lot of that can't be done without real world experience which Epic Store has to gain.

I'm all for it. Competition is great and will at the very least make Steam a better product with more competitive prices.

Although in Epic's case, there is a problem with partial Chinese ownership. It seems if anyone's going to try to really compete, it's going to be Epic. But I wish there wasn't any Chinese ownership involved due to the country's Nazi+ level evil government and willingness to exploit anything that it can get its hands on.
