This is a bronze plaque depicting a chief flanked by two warriors from the kingdom of Benin.
The artist is unknown and it is currently in the Peabody museum, Harvard University.
Benin city is famous for its art and creativity i n bronze sculpting, it depicts their rich culture.
Every major part of benin has a relevant/significant bronze sculpture situated at the center or a specific place.
The sculpture usually have a story behind the art,it tells stories of past hero's and heroin, royalty, battles, wars fought in the past and some about the coming of the white men,slave trading or the life style or the people etc.
That is why the city is still referred to as “THE ANCIENT CITY OF BENIN”
