Sometimes I made of how inflation has been one of the major issues we are facing here in Nigeria. In the midst of my discussion I said that of course there's inflation truly but things are not as inflated as most people are saying it. It's just as if inflation is being painted black. Business wise, there are some who are taking advantage of the inflation to extort and enrich their pockets just for the sake of inflation. That's where the "Retailers" come in.
Retailers and their greed
This is the people I have problem with these retailers are said to be the set of people that retail goods or products they acquire from the manufacturers so that they can sell to the final consumers. I call them the "greedy ones". I don't have problem with them, It's business but I just have issues with their behavior and greed ways of handling and determining the market price.
They are ones that want to make gain more than even the manufacturers or the producers. I found it unbearable and irritating. When dealing with customers, there should be fairness and we should try and shy away from extorting customers. I made my market survey and found out that, imagine retailers will be bargaining with customers patching it up with inflation, if that is the case what should the manufacturers complain about?
I just want to share this short experience i had with one of my neighbors who came to price chicken from me. I gave her a certain bargainable price,she thought price was being too high, we were talking about a big birds here. I asked her to try elsewhere, a small market to be precised that is full of retailers. After she went there, lo and behold she had to come back to me for my big. She even made a confession that the birds she saw was smaller than mine and the price was higher than mine that's bigger. That's how unbearable its sound.
