Happy needlework Monday and a happy new week, how was your weekend and how are you doing today, I believe everyone is doing perfectly well, and I'm happy to meet you all again in this new week, actually I'm going to share with you all on this tutorial that I always had some problem and it all about me Having some experience in sewing short trousers with side pockets and elastic on the waist.

I always keep a try on what I don't know, and even though I make mistakes on that particular thing I will not give up I will still try it till I know it, sewing is not just like cutting, cutting is very very easy but sewing is the hardest part in tailoring work, I dedicated myself and my time in sewing business, I always keep on learning some part that I don't know on YouTube, I like sewing some short pant and long trousers for my baby and some of my neighbors, so one of my neighbors told me that she will bring some yards of fabric for me to sew a long trouser for her with sides pocket, I was thinking on how I will do with this side pocket that she wants, so I remember I have this remaining fabric that I shared with my mum then I decided to use it and learn how to put the side pockets.

Even though I don't like wearing short pants in Ankara fabric without its top as it stands now I didn't have any choice but to sew it just to learn how to put the pockets, so I bought the fabric.

Here is the Ankara fabric

I then folded it into two parts then I drafted out my full length, my crotch length, I divided my waist into four and my hips into four then for the crotch length, I divided my hips by four putting in 2 inches for the crotch curve.

After drafting the front side I cut it out.

After that I folded the fabric again by two then placed the front side on the fabric and put 4 inches on the back crotch length, then I drafted in down with some inches, then for that front waist I slint it by 1 inch so I return the 1 returned the I inch to the back waist everyone the front and the back waist are not equal.

After drafting the back side I cut it out.

I finished with the cutting, I folded the fabric again and I cut out the side pocket pieces.

The next thing after that I moved to the sewing machine and I started trying to put the side pocket, so I felt it the first time and I had to use it and start afresh, I struggled till I logged into YouTube then I was able to put both sides successfully.

After putting the sides pocket I went ahead and joined the back side one by one with the front.

After joining the back side with the front side pocket I then joined the crotch and closed the body.

After that, I bent the waistband inserted a safety pin on the elastic, and passed it into the the band.

I am now finished with putting the elastic I bent the hem of my short pants, and now here is the outcome of it.

Wow, I feel so excited about having this experience that will help me next time to sew my neighbor's trousers, experience is very good.
