By far the hottest day in Bornholm was when I went to Ekkodalen. The other days there was a lot of wind (as you would expect on an island) to cool things down a bit, but that day there was no wind and it was almost too hot to ride a bicycle. Meanwhile, over at the homefront friend and family reported that it was the coldest and rainiest June reported in ages. That coming from Belgium is saying something and I could imagine them going to their work by canoe...

(As a matter of fact, the day I left for Denmark the street where I lived flooded, which was the first time ever:)

Someone with a joking spirit adde an 'Ec' to Kodalen (cow Valley), and ever since the place is referred to as Ekkodalen (Echo Valley.) Anyhow it is the longest rift on the island and stretches some 12 km (7.5 miles.)
