There is more about the SPS.

Steem-Engine tokens get the once over, Thicket keeps on moving and SteemLeo shows its Rich List.

And there is news and discussion about Splinterlands, downvotes, Steem as a cash cow, Minnows, Dolphins, Orcas and Whales, jobs on Steem, and tribes...

1. Steem Proposal System updates

The Steem Proposal System / SPS / SteemDAO receives, as designed, the bulk of its funding from a cut of the annual Steem inflation.

It has also been given a donation of 200,000 STEEM by Steemit Inc. Others are welcome to send donations to the steem.dao@steem.dao account as well.

Another way steemians can contribute to the SPS funds is by setting steem.dao@steem.dao as a beneficiary to receive some percentage of a post's rewards.

Steem data master abh12345@abh12345 has done an analysis to see how many steemians have donated through post beneficiaries - it is 34 so far...

If you haven't voted for any proposals on the SPS exyle@exyle has made a useful video showing how easy it is to do...

howo@howo who is one of the three developers, along with steemchiller@steemchiller and intertia@intertia, who is currently receiving funding from the SPS, has posted an update on his work on the Downvote Control Tool...

2. Steem-Engine tokens take a tumble

deathcross@deathcross presents a useful analysis of the price performance of the 29 most used tokens on Steem-Engine.

During the period studied from 4 August - 4 October all the tokens except LEO, AAA, AFITX and BETA have fallen in value.

The average drop was 46% compared with a STEEM price decrease of 33.3% during the same period...

bluerobo@bluerobo has also begun charting Steem-Engine token price movements. Here is one for the PAL token...

3. Thicket keeps on moving

Developer bflanagin@bflanagin has released more updates on his Thicket / OpenSeed app including the use of SteemConnect and improvements on social connections...

4. SteemLeo Rich List

dtrade@dtrade has published a SteemLeo richlist of the top holders of the LEO token. There are now five steemians holding more than 50,000 LEO - aggroed@aggroed, khaleelkazi@khaleelkazi, dtrade@dtrade, organduo@organduo and diverse@diverse...

6. The lowdown on Downvotes

The ups and downs, the ins and outs, the whys and wherefores of downvoting is still a topic of much discussion on Steem.

acidyo@acidyo and whatsup@whatsup add their thoughts to the debate...

7. A Hobby or Cash Cow?

Long time steemian hitmeasap@hitmeasap has been here almost since the start. He witnessed first hand the golden early days when posts could earn thousands of dollars - including the ultimate make-up tutorial that took over $30K in votes.

He didn't take the money and run like many others, he stuck at it and is here for the long haul...

8. Minnows, Dolphins, Orcas and Whales...

TenKMinnows project founder steevc@steevc reflects on the current state of the steem 'social strata'. There is some growth across all the levels of steemian - dolphins are particularly bouyant. Minnows however are still struggling to make significant progress in numbers...

9. Post your #jobs

hungryharish@hungryharish has put forward the good idea that people should start posting jobs on Steem to attract people to the platform...

10. Are Tribes waiting for Communities?

gadrian@gadrian considers whether tribe development activity has slowed down. He feels tribes need to continue to work on their unique offerings and adding value to their token.

Or perhaps...

I am wondering if some tribes are just waiting for the Communities to arrive to see where to go from there...

To find out more about Tribes, pennsif@pennsif's show TRIBE.talk continues on Monday featuring carrieallen@carrieallen from Creative Coin and zipporah@zipporah from Sonic Groove...
