I have times when I like to do this or that then I stop again. One of these things I do is listen to Philosophic takes on things.
I don't go all down every branch and so one Channel that I like that just covers it all is Philosophize This.
He does a great job of delivering things in one fell swoop.
Although I think I don't particularly care much for the "modern" people's thoughts as I tend to find them rather anal and if anything just a bit narcissistic.
But I do realize it is worth grinding my teeth and just listening because; Well that is what I do rather well, it takes little energy and I can just filter everything I don't like.
Now obviously I assume philosophy and ideologies are too be challenged, but frankly, I see no use in wasting the energy just to try and counter someone on something I can't be arsed of.
Worse I think would to waste energy going around agreeing with people, slapping on my little self-assigned label and going forth vomiting rather a pale word diarrhoea since I only consume a singular type of propaganda.
I think I do like the Stoic things a bit although they don't bring anything in particular to the table, they just seem pretty solid.
From the bit here and there I recall I don't mind some of the 1900's people and I think there was a french dude in the middle I found quite intriguing.
I am by no means some intellectual and as I hardly recall what the characters in a movie is called; So do I hardly recall what everyone's supposed opinion is.
Rather I think with enough replay I will surely pick and choose as I do from the offset the parts I like, and enforce them with parts I dismissed but then gave some thought about.
I think this is the issue with new things I see coming up, Jordan Peterson and that dude on the wire or whatnot, the one with the little hat.
Now both have some fair things to say, but as a whole neither of them are people worth emulating. That is what irks me so much about how we operate.
I do not like how people so easily follow the words of others, I get there can be a little "crush" faze but so many never exit that mentality and they jump from one line of thought to the next. Never to understand a word.
Not that I am excluded, I have many times prodded something that seemed lodged in my thinking like cancer wondering when it will move the fuck along.
Other cancers I keep around if only to deter unknown cancers and it all takes a while to process and seemingly go into remission and it feels like I am finally thinking for myself.
Maybe I fool myself by assuming that digesting everything albeit with a slight bias but still mostly in, assume to be true especially if negative then just leaving it there, will...
I digress.
Although I don't go hunting down specific philosophy content on this or that but one that has come across my screen for something that has modern opinions informed and challenging older work is Philosophy Tube.
It is kinda like an artsy philosophy documentary with snark , basically what the news should be.
It does remind me that I think the philosophers I dislike the most tend to be the ones that move into Ethics half-arsed and so clearly only based on their circumstances.
Which is funny because I tend to criticize politics 100% from my own experience and if you gave me half a chance I will push depopulation in a heart beat... Ok maybe just for funzies.
What is the point of this post...
Well I was just musing that people tend to think philosophy is some form of lifestyle, the stoic fanboys tend to portray that strongly. Then others think it is some hoity useless thing but we all do it regardless so why not see how the "pro's" do it.
Sure there is so much bullshit especially I think in the modern age because of questions which I either do not yet understand and think they are not worth asking; Or because they are not worth asking and that is what makes the general populace seemingly do nothing but ask them.
Also, I was watching Mr Freeman above and figured hey this is rather cool.
