"Rainbow in the sky.
                       Rainbow way up high.
            Won't you please be kind?
Put a rainbow in my mind."

"We are sorry M'am but you won't be able to speak to see Him today." says the nurse as she steps in front of the Mother to keep her from entering the the room.

"You listen to me," Matilda replies to the caregiver pausing then digging her heel in and standing with her back stiff, she continues "he is my son, I pay for his care and I will see him or I will move him."

"Danny, mamma is here my boy, how are you today?"

           "Rainbow in the sky.
        Rainbow way up high.
                     Won't you please be kind?
Put a rainbow in my mind."

"Danny are you upset today?" His mom asks as she moves closer towards him, after closing the room door to a frowning minimum wage employee.

Danny sat in the middle of his bed clutching his pillow and slowly rocking back and forth in a slow rhythm, legs crossed, pillow to chest puffed up just right for him to rest his cheek on it and watching the clouds pass by like ephemeral white strokes on a canvas.

"Are you remembering something bad my darling?" Matilda asks with soft concern.

The accident was about a year ago, Danny was the only one who survived but although the Doctors say he had no physical damage, he still shut down and it was chalked up to post-traumatic stress.

Matilda gave him his space, but he just got worse, and now he was in a mental hospital, the best care... good care and she could trust he was safe.

"Do you want to tell me why you want the rainbows in your mind, Danny?"

"Rainbow in the sky.
                       Rainbow way up high.
            Won't you please be kind?
Put a rainbow in my mind."

"Rainbow in the sky.
                       Rainbow way up high..."

Danny stops mid-verse and turns his head to look up at his mother, pulling up his knees. then lazily slipping down to his side and sliding the pillow under his head, then staring at her for a while seemingly still getting into a cosy position he begins again.

     "Rainbow in the sky.
                       Rainbow way up high.
                                          Daddy, please don't cry.

There will be rainbows in your mind."
