Greetings, everyone!
Being addicted to something is always refreshing at the start, but withdrawing from it is always a problem or battle. Addiction is so dangerous, and anything that we are into should be good so that when we get addicted to it, it will be good, and we bear fruit from it.
However, so many people are addicted to bad behavior or character that in the end, they cannot come out; they feel like dying there.
My uncle got addicted to alcoholic drinks and smoking. It was so terrible to the point where he couldn't stop, and he started this behavior when he was very young. And I remember what the Bible says, "Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it". So he couldn't depart from this attitude of smoking and drinking because he had earlier trained himself in this manner and he couldn't depart from it. It takes the Grace of God to depart from it
Unfortunately, my uncle died because of the consequences of this attitude. It affected his heart and kidneys; they did all they could to bring him back to life, but they couldn't.
Moreso, I realized that anything that you are into, there is a spirit behind it or attached to it, whether it's good or bad. The spirit will always control you to do it all the time. There is a spirit behind prostitution, cultism, masturbation, smoking, drinking, and gambling. It will always control you to do more of it in a grand style.
Our choices matter a lot in my life. If we choose to serve God, definitely the Spirit of God will lead and control. If we get addicted to the things of God, the results and fruit will be seen by others, and they will know that you are of God. You look beautiful and glorious in everything you do. Addiction to good things, behavior, character, and many more positive qualities will be seen.
My younger got addicted to hard drugs but prayers took him out of there. I prayed, and my mother prayed, and we advised him of the consequences of getting addicted to this. With time, he adjusted, and things changed for his good. He is now happy that he is no longer in that attitude. What he is pursuing now is to love God the more and please Him.
